    M,

I am not a big fan of the ICC, so I was happy about that.

But the area I am getting at is a little bit different. What irks me is the claim that on 911 we had all of this “goodwill” that we wasted because of our actions.

I don’t accept that as having a lot of weight as I don’t see the world as being full of countries that consistently act in a moral way.

The UN human rights committee is filled with countries that are among the worst violators.

There are many examples of malfeasance at the UN including the Oil for food program, the complicity of UN personnel in “watching” Hezbollah kidnap Israeli soldiers and then refuse to provide the videotape to Israel as well as the biased and lack of balance on the resolutions.

If you look at what Russia has done in Chechnya and the actions of other UNSEC members it becomes clear that these countries say one thing and then act another way whenever it suits their interests.

What I really want to see is for us to truly and comprehensively address the internal challenges we face and to stop squawking about bullshit and that is what much of this is. Too many people fighting for power and too few fighting to help others.

I guess we should play nice or you’re gonna kick ass and take names. In all seriousness, we have ignored the rest of the world e.g., the Kyoto Agreement, Iraq war, the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, and we ignore decisions and orders issued by the International Criminal Court, to name a few that come to mind.
