Blogging With The Triberr Global Commenting System
Last week marked my year anniversary as a member of Triberr and I am pleased to say that I am thankful that Dan and Dino brought me on board when they did. That is not supposed to be taken sarcastically or in any sort of negative fashion because Triberr has been one of the best things that has happened to me as a result of blogging.
Rather the reason I mention it is because I am going to tell you that I am not real enamored with how the Triberr Global Commenting System works with my blog. I don’t like how it looks on my page and since it doesn’t appear to be threaded I find it a bit unwieldy.
Here is the thing, I know from experience that Batman and Robin haven’t finished tweaking it yet. They will make changes and adjustments and there is a good chance that I will turn it back on. I know these things because after a year of being part of Triberr I have seen tremendous changes take place.
Ok, let me provide some more details about what I find objectionable.
1) I don’t like the large gap between the Triberr comment box and my CommentLuv box. I am guessing that it has something to do with the padding, but I am not positive.  I like providing options and incentives to comment and I would prefer that there not be that gap.
2) The lack of threaded comments makes it look just awful on the page. I am working hard to clean things up here and I think that looks cluttered.
3) Â Some of my fellow tribesmen aren’t coming to my blog but are still commenting using the system. I don’t know if they are aware that I am not using it. I don’t want them to feel like they are being ignored. I hate when bloggers ignore comments.
Wait and See
Wait and See is what I plan on doing. Dino made an offer to Skype with me to try to help me fix things. I haven’t taken him up on the offer because I am still making changes here and wanted to try to finalize things before I ask for help. I’d hate to tweak things and then discover that the changes I made on the page negated the changes we made to fix things.
There is a good chance that the changes the guys make will make my concerns moot and I won’t have to worry about any of this. I am willing to wait for a little bit and see what happens.
As I mentioned before Triberr has been a wonderful addition to the tools and resources I use for blogging. Â However the best part by far has been the exposure to people I would not have otherwise met. It really has expanded my reach and changed things in a way that I am quite grateful for.

Hi Jack,
I have installed and uninstalled the Triberr commenting system as well. I really like the strategy behind it, but I didn’t like how it looked on my blog either. I want an easy way for people to comment. And I want one system, not two. It should probably be similar to LiveFyre and users of Triberr get some extra benefits.
I’m sure Dino and Dan will fix this sometime soon.

Integration is the issue. It needs to be simple and it needs to not cannibalize from the other system.

Triberr helps me a lot in segmentation of my target auditory. I can invite people that can be my prospective customers to my “tribe”. It’s a great tool that helps you to interact with other bloggers. We can bring a lot of content with a help of Triberr! Truly great platform!

i had a terrible love for triberr and then the auto posting to twitter went away and our small tribe just kinda forgot about it.

thnx for writing about us, Jack. Im so glad Triberr’s been good to you.
You already know how this goes…we roll out minimum viable product and then we tweak it.
We will add all those features you mention and soon, so no worries.
One question I’d like to answer is “WHY?” yet another comment system?
The reason is that your post can now get “syndicated” and comments are visible on every instance of the post. We call it ReBlog, some call it syndication, but neither phrase is apt to describe it.
The fact that the comments follow the post wherever it goes, and all comments are mirrored, and readers can leave a comment wherever they like, and the author can manage it all from within Triberr, is the WHY we rolled out yet another comment system.
The rest of the features will come, I promise 🙂

I am not worried about it. Been around a long time now so I have seen you guys make the magic happen. Since I decided to keep playing with the look of this place I figure that by the time I am done the dust will have settled and I can turn everything back on again.

I find Triberr confusing. I keep thinking someday i’ll have the patience to figure it out, but writing wins out everyday. As for comments, I appreciate each and every comment you have made but i rarely respond. I guess it is kind of rude not to, isn’t it? I may have to do a post on this!

Triberr has all sorts of cool people who are happy to lend a helping hand. I hear you about writing every day- I never get enough time to do it and it makes me grumpy.
FWIW, I wasn’t thinking about you when I wrote about commenting. Truth be told it was directed at a guy who just never responds. I guess that is sort of passive-aggressive on my part.

I am not on WP so I can’t use it anyway, but I understand where you’re coming from. I’m curious to see how it’ll look as it all comes together. As someone not using it, it is a little bit weird when it pops up as an option “from the other side” to me. But I hope you can figure out a way to make it work if it seems to be right for you.
And really – what I have to say more than anything?
