How to avoid boring posts

As I tool through the vast wasteland of cyberspace I notice many things, one of which is the many blogs that complain that no one reads them because they only offer boring posts. So I thought that I would write about how to avoid boring, dull posts that leave you with that less than fresh feeling.

Initially I had this “glossy” over-the-top rendition of how I imagine myself to be the Silver Surfer coasting through cyberspace or some other somewhat hokey but image. And then I changed my mind, maybe it is because I was interrupted, but I lost my muse. And when the muse is missing the tap from whence thought is expelled becomes clogged.

So here is what I have to offer. Blogging requires the ability to communicate via writing. Writing is a skill that requires practice. The more you write, the easier it becomes to call upon the words and command them to do your bidding. But, like any skill it requires some polishing and outside influence.

In this case I would recommend that you find a book or two that provide you with the ability to expand your vocabulary. The point is not to try and present yourself as being a pompous Ivy league educator. For one thing, not all are pompous stuffed windbags.

The point is that when you reach into the tool chest you should have a selection of tools to choose from. Not every job requires a hammer or monkey wrench. If you build your vocabulary you’ll find that you have a better, more functional toolset to use.

When you are considering what to post about, remember that you can search for what is unique about your experience and try and share that. But it is also ok to share the mundane. Part of developing and building a rapport with your readers is providing them with insight about yourself and how you are similar to them.

Unless you are like me, we all put our pants on one leg at time. We all bleed and we all breathe, although if you bleed excessively it can impact your ability to keep breathing in which case I would advise you to focus on eliminating the bleeding post haste.

Another tip is to read, read, read and then read some more. You can always learn things from reading. And one of the nice things about blogging is that you can link to interesting stories to share with your readers.

I’d write more, but I noticed that the soapbox I am standing on is beginning to buckle. The last time that happened I ignored it and found myself in a predicament. One leg was stuck in the middle of the soapbox. It looked silly and was rather uncomfortable. Have you ever tried to cash a check with one leg stuck in a soapbox.

Even worse, I had a date that evening. It is really hard to make a good impression with your foot stuck in a soapbox. Although had I been accosted by a dog or mugger I would have been prepared. A solid kick to the behind from a man wearing a soapbox is an easy way to adjust someone’s attitude.

Why do you even bother posting?

I cannot believe that there were 2130 hits from that query!

So, for instance, when someone types in “penis” and “hair weave” and “sandwich” for whatever reasons (as a query)… then you will be at the top! Which brings you to this link:

    http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&q=%22%22penis%22+and+%22hair+weave%22+and+%22sandwich%22

The top of the page is from jackinworld, which has absolutely no affiliation with Jack’s Shack.

I am Jack, of Jack’s Shack and I endorse this message.

Well, ya know, we all play the “get more hits game,” sometimes, and throw up boring posts just so that we can post certain keywords… Not really feeling it, just kind of, ya know, want to make sure a certain keyword are listed…
