More Thoughts on Manners

Just a couple of “nuggets” to share with you. This afternoon I had a new experience. I had just finished working on a large project and headed to the restroom to take care of some business when I noticed a man on a cellphone.

It wasn’t hard to notice, he was yelling into the phone, which is a practice that has become way too common. I hope that I am not guilty of that.

Anyway he followed me into the restroom and lined up at the urinal next to mine. He kept yelling into the phone, never missed a beat. Needless to say I had no interest in his conversation and was irked that I had to listen to him yell.

This irritation brought out my inner curmudgeon. You are probably wondering, what did Jack do? Did he say something, did he grab the phone and toss it in the toilet? The answer is that I thought about both of these things and did neither.

However, I did manage to blech quite loudly. It echoed. It was loud enough that he stopped speaking and looked at me. I took the look of disgust he gave me and smiled as I told him that I thought that if it was ok for him to share his life with me I should share some of my own with him.

Kind of juvenile, but a lot of fun.
