Sometimes I really wonder if life in Ancient Rome would feel like life today. In so many ways they were so advanced. I really wonder what would have happened if the Empire had not collapsed.

You present some good questions. I am not an expert on Ancient Rome, so I am going to hedge a little regarding the philosophical leanings and standpoint there. I suspect that they would have made progress and moved from where they were. “Forward” progress that is.
From a technological standpoint I think that we would have been more advanced and that some health issues may not have been as problematic, but that is just speculation.
