Mid-East conflict ‘stalls reform’

The remarks were made during talks in Morocco on a US initiative to promote wide-ranging reforms in the Arab world.
US Secretary of State Colin Powell replied that changes should not wait for peace in the Middle East.”
Powell is exactly right, there is no legitimate reason for not pushing ahead for democratic change and reform. Would you halt research on a cure for Lung cancer until you find a cure for M.S.?
This is nonsense nothing more than a cheap attempt to maintain the status quo.
