Hurricane Katrina

“Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
above us only sky
Imagine all the peopel
Living for today — a-haw
Imagine there’s no countries
It isnt’ hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace — a-haw

Chorus:
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
and the world will live as one.

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
no need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world — a-haw

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
and the world will live as one.”
Available on the album, Imagine by John Lennon

I am not a big Lennon fan. I enjoy a lot of what he did, but I have never seen him as this symbol of peace and happiness that others have tried to make him into.

However, in light of the destruction wrought by the hurricane the song lyrics just felt right to me. I appreciate the thoughts and sentiment and I am quite thankful for the blessings I have in my own life and my thoughts go out to those who have lost so much.

Sometimes we really do walk upon the razor’s edge.
