Do you have blog envy? Are you a blogger who secretly wishes that your blog was more like another. Do you wish that you had more comments or that your commenters were cooler and more clever.
Do you ever wish that your posts were smarter and wittier. Have you ever been disappointed because your favorite blogger never comments on your blog?
Are you upset because your own blog is not patrolled and assaulted by wackos, moonbats and nutjobs.
Do you question why you blog and wonder if you are wasting your time.
Do you ever wonder how many roads a man must walk before he becomes a man. Have you ever ridden through the desert on a horse with no name.
Well, have you?
(yep, this is recycled, but still valid.)

I do have blog envy…bad. Some days I feel like nobody reads it, or if they are reading, they wonder why they wasted their time! I try very hard to keep in mind that I'm recording our lives and memories much more easily than trying to keep up with a photo album or scrapbook. And I wouldn't mind if it helped me network a little.

I think that it is clear that your family has blog envy. Maybe for the holidays you can give them all blogs and watch as they get sucked into the same sordid world we all live in. 😉

I'm here b/c I saw your comment at Erica's place*freefringes* and thought I'd pop over. Hiya Jack.
I've never had blog envy. (I'm a filthy liar) But I do wonder sometimes if it's a waste of time, mostly because my family sees it as a frivolous way to spend it.
I happen to think they have blog envy.

Hi Alexandra,
It is hard not to look at some of these things and shake your head, it just seems so ridiculous. But that is the joy of people- logic sometimes escapes us.

I can see why this would happen, these thoughts, it's only human, right? I'd have to say that the biggest question is the mytery of where the "social proof" comes from with a blog.
I'll go to the "latest craze" and think, "what? you're kidding, right?"
But, it is all subjective..but, still, some days…"what??"
Good post here, makes you want to comment.

If I said no, i'd have been lying, eh? I sometimes I am a lot of other things, but at the end of the day (DON'T Call the cliche police!) deep down I am happy with who I am, without the muffin top of course. This post should be paired with your NEXT POST!

It is important to respond to commenters. In the early days I wasn't very good about it and I am sorry about that. If people take the time to remark we should take time to acknowledge them.

I like that description a disorganized newsletter for those who care to read whatever tumbles from my head to the paper.. Probably because that sounds like a good description of what I do too.

They do good work day in and day out. It is impressive how they are able to sustain the effort.

If you can see the benefits than you are probably in good shape. It is when you can't see the benefits or figure out how they outweigh the negatives that you are in trouble.

I love the commenters I have and I'm able to respond to each and every one of them. It's like they are hanging out in my den and we are all chatting. I love that! I don't have any one particular blogger I idolize, so no one who I just dream of having comment on my blog. I respect the writing style of several people, but who doesn't? We're writers! I have no horse, but ohhhh, if I did………….

I used to worry about comments and I had the wackos, but I guess I'm past all that and don't miss any of the anxiety. My current blog is more of a disorganized newsletter for those who care to read whatever tumbles from my head to the paper. I like this much better. These were provocative quesions; thanks for asking them.

I can think of at least those two.

I would like to meet the person who honestly says no to all those questions. I wonder at least once day whether I am wasting my time. But, then there are the benefits.
