Most people probably haven’t spent any time considering the various factors involved in running a proper execution, but it makes sense that someone has. Not your every day line of work or thought, but someone has to do it.

It also appears that there’s a science to beheading too. The executioner pokes the prisoner in the lower back who then jerks up involuntarily exposing his/her neck …
It sounds particlurly cruel that a person’s last sensation would be the prick of a sword.
